PLANET EPL-2000 GEPON Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is designed especially for Point to Multipoint (Pt2MP) FTTx applications. The EPL-2000 is equipped with two GEPON ports, two Gigabit SFP and two Gigabit RJ45 uplink Interfaces, and one management port in the 1U height case. With friendly-centralized GUI management, the installation and maintenance of the GEPON deployment become easy. When functioning with PLANET GEPON Optical Network Units (ONU) EPN series, the EPL-2000 provides highly-effective GEPON solutions for broadband network.

High Split Ratio for a Cost-effective Network Solution
With high split ratio at 1:64 and two PON ports, the EPL-2000 supports the deployment of up to 128 PLANET ONUs which can minimize the investment cost for carriers. GEPON is a point to multipoint communications protocol based on Gigabit Ethernet. It allows a Gigabit Ethernet communications fiber to be shared by multiple end users using a passive optical splitter. Each PON port of the EPL-2000 has a maximum of 1:64 WDM (wavelength-division multiplexing) to transmit data based on fiber web via fiber and 64 GEPON long-distance ONU equipment. Therefore, the EPL-2000 offers the network users the benefits of great capacity, excellent secrecy, web-grouping flexibility and saving the line resources as well as the quantity of end equipment.

By integrating the advanced technology in the telecommunication industry, the EPL-2000 provides strong functionalities for Ethernet features such as VLAN, Multicast, DBA (Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation), and Access Control List. The EPL-2000 is an ideal solution for FTTx applications.High Scalability and Flexible OLT Maintenance
For efficient management, the EPL-2000 supports remote management functions. Via its user-friendly GUI utility, the administrators can manage and configure the OLT and ONU equipment on the central side. The GUI utility supports up to 32 EPL-2000 OLTs to be centrally managed through one control screen. The built-in Element Management System (EMS) offers an easy-to-use management and configuration facility to add to or remove PLANET OLTs and ONUs from the network architecture easily and economically. Its great flexibility is perfect for deployment among different network architectures. The EPL-2000 also supports standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and can be managed via any standard-based management software.

Robust ONUs Management
The EPL-2000 supports many operating and monitoring functions for efficient ONUs management, such as ONU auto-detection, auto-registration, testing link connection, binding MAC address and filtration, bandwidth control, flow control, and multicast stream control.Flexible and Extendable Solution
The EPL-2000 has four uplink ports. The two mini-GBIC slots of the uplink ports of the EPL-2000 are compatible with 1000BASE-SX/LX and WDM SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) fiber-optic modules. The distance can be extended from 550 meters (Multi-mode fiber cable) to 10/30/50/70/120 kilometers (Single-mode fiber or WDM fiber cable). To help current analog camera deployment in long distances efficiently and provide high video quality and reliable signal, PLANET has developed the video over fiber media converter kit, VF-402-KIT, which is ideal for extending the distance and signal conversion by transmitting the video and data over the fiber-optic cable. Easy Installation
The VF-10x-KIT media conversion installation is quite easy by simply plug and play. Fiber-Optic Redundant Link
The redundancy back-up and error tolerance capability of the link can be greatly improved to guarantee the network stability. The redundant link is designed for critical networks that require fibers or copper links to rapid recover automatically, such as ISPs, telecom, hospitals, banks and enterprises. If the master converter link is down, it forwards the packet to the slave converter’s port of the backup pair.

Temperature and FAN Status Monitoring
The Managed Media Converter Chassis is equipped with temperature sensor and cooling fans to ensure reliable operation. Whenever the abnormal temperature is detected or cooling fan stops service, the Managed Media Converter Chassis would display related information on the Web management interface. Therefore, it helps the administrator to efficiently manage the media conversion operation.

Flexibility and Extension
The MC-1610MR series allows the connection of up to 16 PLANET Smart Fast / Gigabit Ethernet Converters in one chassis. With an independent power supply on each slot of the MC-1610MR series, any converter is hot-swappable without causing an interruption to other converters. Each bay of the Media Converter Chassis can be populated with PLANET’s Smart Media Converters. PLANET FST and GST Smart Media Converter series provides media conversion between copper to FX, SX and LX optical model for distance from 220m and up to 120km kilometers.
